Nashville Public Library Grand Reading Room

The main branch of the Nashville Public Library, located downtown, is a three-story, 300,000 square-foot building.  This branch, which opened in 2001, includes public artwork throughout the building.

Shown above is the Grand Reading Room on the library's third floor.  This 4500 square-foot room features 80, hammered copper panels that tell the history of Nashville.  Click here to read more about them.

If you look out the window at the far side of the room, you'll see the State Capitol.

How often do you go to the library?

When did you get back from your writing residency?

Am here now and realized I missed a lot of your photos.

What a beautiful room. My library visits are few and far between. Like decades apart.

I thought this shot was in BW at first. It's just great. You were in the perfect spot. Sorry to read about the loss of your friends. A lovely tribute to them both.

I used to go to the library a lot. Now I just don't have (or make) the time.

This looks like a wonderful place for reading and studying. I love the light streaming through the big windows. Lovely!

Since Amazon, I am apparently trying to create my own library.
I LOVE this picture.

This is an "Off Topic Comment" but...I seem to have lost my knack for posting/commenting in 'Blog Land,' for a while. All I do lately, is put up a few photos, here and there. I didn't plan on it... It just happened.

And since I don't want anyone to think I got *uppity* or anything, :-) I'm leaving this comment, to explain my absence.

I'm sure to be back in not too long. Can't keep a "Chatty Person" quiet, for too long. :-)

Great shot. I love the library, I get over zealous and take out TOO many books. I've had to "come in" during amnesty. I'm sure with all the fines I have paid there is a wing named after me.

Nice shot of a great library reading room. I'm a big fan of libraries myself, both for reading and taking pictures:)

I have to admit that I visit library every single day! Library at our institute technology of bandung (ITB) looks different from yours. Look at that, I love those fancy lamps on the tables.

Chris, we never use leash when we walk Aita.

Jim is right, that's a beautiful room. As for my reading these days, I get off the bus at the Goodwill Store after work, go inside and buy myself some paperback books. When I'm done reading, I pass them on to Mama.

Yesterday's post is special for your friends and their loved ones.
