Dog Day Afternoon (and morning!)

"I can't envision my life without a dog.
It is as integral a part of our lives
as anything you can think of. "

- Morley Safer

Today is the annual Dog Day Festival at Centennial Park. Sponsored by the Nashville Area Humane Society (NAHS), the festival celebrates man's best friend with a variety of activities and contests. Included are the Mutt Strutt Dog Walk which raised over $19,000 for the NAHS, a micro-chip clinic, and a number of fun contests (Waggiest Tail was my favorite!). In addition, there are a number of information booths on breed rescues, canine health, spaying and neutering, kennels, etc., as well as pet photographers and doggy arts and crafts (Yes, you read that right!).

I admit that I am a huge dog fanatic. I have two Welsh Terriers - Kasey and Decker. The female (Kasey) is a puppy mill rescue , and the Decker is a retired champion. I didn't take them to the Festival because we had other places to go afterwards, and I didn't want to leave them in the hot car. However, I thought you might enjoy meeting some of the fun dogs that slobbered on me today!

If you want to check out more photos from the Dog Day Festival (and meet the dogs in my life), check out my other blog by clicking here

What a great collage! Can't pick a favorite, tho, since each one (or two) has special qualities, but have to admit that I'm a wee bit partial to the dude in the glasses.

I love dogs too but I can't have one as I live in an apartment. Many people who live in apartments have dogs but it is not a good life for them, I think.

I too like your collage. Thank you for commenting on my blog.

Great collage! I love dogs and we have two. I like the American penchant with rhyming words (Mutt Strutt). I love the dog quotes on this and your other blog. I miss the dog shows I could see in the US.

Decker looks irresistible wearing reading glasses! And Kasey's face is the sweetest thing :). Airedales are fantastic dogs, aren't they?

What a lovely bunch of smiles and/or expressions you have in your collage. We get to see lots and lots of dogs out with their very own people here in Portland. Mama and I adore my miniature dachshund Duncan who will be 14 on Oct. 28. Today he went grocery shopping with us; we're lucky that the Fred Meyer we patronize allows him to come inside, on his leash. When the weather's nice, he goes to restaurants with us, ones with outdoor seating of course.

I have often said if there are no dogs in heaven then I don't want to go there.

The micro-chip clinic is a very worthy cause and I'm please so much money was raised for it ... One of the local success business stories here is a business which specializes in cookies for dogs ... Give Kasey and Decker a hug.
