Easter Parade on the Greenway
While Easter Day in Nashville was pretty chilly, it was sunny and pleasant, so we decided to take the dogs for a stroll on one of Nashville's greenways. We ended up at the Brookemeade Greenway at Kelly's Point Battlefield (a Civil War site).
Greenways are linear corridors of land on which the city has paved trails for public access. The land itself remains undeveloped, but the trails are perfect for walking, running, cycling, jogging, skating, or just enjoying the natural beauty. Most of the greenways run along rivers, streams, ridges, etc., making these areas accessible for everyone to enjoy. There are about 10 greenways in Nashville/Davidson County, including one that runs along the Cumberland River downtown.
Kelly's Point Battlefield is on the Cumberland River at Bell's Bend on the westside of Nashville. It was on this site in December, 1864, that the largest sustained battle between the Confederate land forces and Union naval forces took place. The site had been forgotten and was under consideration for development until about 10 years ago when the Battle of Nashville Preservation Society and the city agreed to include it in the greenway.
Please note: While I would normally crop this in a bit, because I had to upload it differently, I left it as is today. Hopefully, third time is a charm, and it's showing up.

I hope you will have a nice week to match your photography.
Abraham Lincoln in Brookville, Ohio.
I don't know if it's my computer but your last two days' photos are not loading. I get a small white square in their place.
I cant see the photos either. :-(
Do not see any pics here. :(
I see one photo and a small box beneath it. So, if you uploaded two, only one shows for me.
Interestingly, I was just at Menton and all I could see was a small box, while all before me saw her photo. I right clicked on the box and was able to open the photo in a new window! Not so with the white boxes on your blog, though!
Photograph shows up very well. Happy doggies taking their walk. However, below the photograph is a little box with nothing in it. When clicked on, it says it can't get the photo from localhost ....
Strange the photo shows AND you have the little box that doesn't work below.
Do hope your troubles GO AWAY SOON, Chris. I can imagine how annoying it is.
The first four comments on the blog today are from Monday and Tuesday, so that's why they couldn't see the photos.
Thanks, everyone, for your help!!
Neat idea. We have trails here too, but yours sound much nicer.
Those greenways sound great!
Those greenways are a great idea that we dont´t see that much here in Portugal.
Great photos.
What a nice area. My DS2 is a Civil War buff and has been wanting to visit some of your local sites. We visited the one in/near Franklin, but no others so far.
We went to West Palm Beach and Jupiter, FL for a visit (mainly baseball for the guys, I like to look at the beautiful homes and plantings. :)
Chris, re: the "localhost" error (the reason why your photos are not showing up) see if this helps (I haven't read all the messages).
