On the first day of every month, a number of City Daily Photo bloggers participate in a theme day. This month's theme is "BRIDGES."
In 2006, Metro-Davidson (Nashville) government passed an ordinance renaming the Gateway Bridge as The Korean War Memorial Bridge to honor the more than 130,000 Tennesseans who served during the Korean Conflict. The bridge, which spans the Cumberland River and connects east Nashville with downtown, opened in 2004, replacing the Shelby Street Bridge.
Tomorrow I'll show you the Shelby Street Bridge and tell you what happened to it.

Have a sunny weekend!
Beautiful and stunning photo at night. I took a peek at the daytime view. My dad served in the Korean War. It's nice that they did a rememerance.
bridges at night are always beautiful
Thanks for the link, Chris, because it's good to see the same bridge both day and night. Your theme photo is impressive.
Wonderful night shot! It makes a nice reflection.
Nice photograph of an important bridge.
16 ghosts on bridge
Very scenic bridge night view.
What an excellent shot Chris... nicely snapped!
Hi Chris, I think you mean the Sunshine Skyway. Yeah, that is one heckuva bridge! And if you would like to see a little more of my night shooting... Clearwater Beach Daily Photo and scroll down.
Goodness, so many died just from your State. What a beautiful photograph - with its reflection. Look forward to next posting on the Shelby Bridge. This is a moving tribute on Theme Day.
Beautiful night shot (I have not mastered those yet ;-))
Nice way to commemorate our veterans.
Beautiful night time shot of a great bridge.
Wow, what a difference between the night and day shot.
The day shot gives the bridge the look of 'oh, it's just another simple bridge"
The nighttime view, lights, plus the reflection, gives it a whole new look. Very nice

Look at that spectacular night shot! Well done, Chris! That bridge looks fan-tas-tic! Happy theme day.
A great picture. The lighting on the bridge is neat.
Excellent picture Chris, well done!

quite a few night-time reflection bridges showing up today.
Thats cool. Nashville: I guess you would notice a guitar post like mine, perhaps! No disrespect but we enjoy the MASH reruns a lot.
That is a fantastic photo! You made the bridge look more beautiful (than it probably is).

Very nice! Complete with reflection! I like it very much.
Great shot! I like this design. It looks simple but I'm sure that building a bridge is not as simple as it looks.
Very nice.
This is totally unrelated, but I thought you might be interested... Do you remember my "Hidden treasures" post from a few days ago? Well, tonight we watched the movie "Mystic River" (we had forgotten all about it in all these years) and what do I see in the very last scene? Most of the houses I showed in that post! I just edited it for the record, btw.
Amazing what photo blogging does, isn't it? There were so many familiar sights I could spot in that movie the second time around!
Great night time shot. Love the reflection.
love the colors in this! very nice.
Wow!! Great theme day photo!
Great photo. I can't believe I missed you on theme day. I'll do better next time ... The reflection is great.
