Lights-a-Million

During the holiday season, more than two-million lights adorn over 1,000 trees and bushes on the Opryland Hotel property in Nashville. The front entrance and lobby of the hotel are behind the pond and waterfall shown above. If you look closely at the hotel's dormers, you'll note lighted wreaths in those windows, too. Believe it or not, over 1,000,000 people travel to see the lights annually.

Tomorrow, we'll go inside for a peek.

PS. Happy Birthday, Jason!

I bet this is wonderful to see. Is this around where Dollywood is? I bet that looks spectacular too.

Dollywood is in East Tennessee, near Knoxville, almost a 4-hour drive. We're almost in the exact middle of the state.

I have heard Dollywood is wonderful, but I can tell you that trying to get anywhere near it is a nightmare. I was in Knoxville a few weeks ago and drove over to Sevierville (her home town). It took me more than an hour to go fewer than 30 miles because of the traffic in Sevierville, Pigeon Forge (where Dollywood is) and Gatlinburg. I gave up and went to the outlet mall in Sevierville.

Over 1,000,000 people see the lights. Wow. And you have done your part to share them world wide ... What I like the most are the falls.

Jeez, that's a lot of lights !

Nice - but I wonder whether in a few years time, climate change may make this "inappropriate" ... all the nice things in life are changing.

It's the most amazing place. I had the pleasure of seeing it once in summer and I wouldn't mind returning to see it now.
