This barn is located in Cheatham County, just north of Nashville. It's not too far from the barn I
posted yesterday. What I found interesting about this barn is that, while most of the abandoned barns sit isolated on overgrown property, this one is very close to a house, and most of the land around it is grass. I moved a little to my left to take the photo shown at right so that you can see the house in the background. Another thing that I found odd was that I don't remember seeing a fence on the property. Usually the barns that are falling down are fenced to keep people out.

To be honest... I don't think you need a fence to keep people out... I think that the general feel of "Touch This Barn And Be Buried Underneath The Rubble" is enough to keep me out... We have a few barns like this in Maury County too... ... Upon reflection, maybe there should be a fence around it...
I will be saying this again... it's a pity nobody rebuilds those barns...

What a gorgeous barn - as are all these barns you photograph. I so wish someone would restore them. Just beautiful.
Honest. Around here they tear down very old barns, one board at a time and sell the boards and sell the beams and end up with cash left over after erecting a new metal barn.
I would go running round through it.
I too echo the wish for them to be restored. But as Abe said, if they can tear them down earn some money from them I wonder why these owners don't do that?
They may pose some danger, especially for children who might go inside to play and end up getting hurt.
Brandon, while I would stay out of a barn like that, too, I know there are people who would still go into it without regard to their safety. I'll be PC and just say that some people don't think.
I do think it's a shame that they don't restore the barns. I know that metal or fiberglass barns are big now, and most of them have no character.
It seems the barns are getting downgraded as long as ou travel the countryside. Are we going to see barn ashes next? :))
